How to Find Your True Waist

Place your hands firmly on either side of your rib cage.

Slowly slide your hands down your torso.

When your hands naturally stop, where you can’t go any lower without flaring out over your hips, you’ve found it!
That’s the smallest part of your torso, also known as your true waist.
Pro tip: If you press in gently, you’ll feel that this is the narrowest point before your hips start to curve out.

Now, wrap a soft measuring tape around this spot, making sure it's level all the way around.

Double-check that you're using the correct end of the tape (hey, it happens!).
Voilà! You've just found your true waist.
And spoiler alert, it has nothing to do with your belly button location!
Step 2: Measure Your Bust
Next, measure around the fullest part of your bust. Keep the tape comfortably snug but not tight, and make sure it stays straight across your back.
Step 3: Check the Cherry Velvet Size Chart
Once you have both measurements, bust and true waist, head over to the size chart for the specific Cherry Velvet dress you’re eyeing. Each dress style may fit a little differently, so don’t skip this step!
A note about the hips: Unless you have proportionally much larger hips, this measurement it usually not necessary as all our skirts are cut full with enough fabric to go over 'almost' every hip measurement.
