If you’ve ever dreamed of walking onto the set of a classic holiday movie, Martini Town is the place to be. Just once a year (from Dec 4 to Jan 5th) this real film backlot located in Aldergrove, BC opens its doors to the public for their annual Merry & Bright event, a celebration designed to bring joy and light to the season. I decided on the 'Merry Petals' Joan dress as the perfect outfit paired with the Golden Era jewelry set and styled my hair in classic victory rolls.
Upon arrival I immediately felt transported to a Hallmark movie. Christmas lights illuminated the charming 'streets', faux storefronts were festively decorated and the entire place hummed with festive vibes. The attention to detail on this set makes every corner picture perfect. There was even staged snowfall!
Victorian carolers crooned all the Christmas classics and The Dimes from Vancouver spread plenty of cheer with their 50's sound and beautiful voices. Of course no holiday experience is complete without some treats. There were several food truck options and vendors selling hot cider and hot chocolate. I couldn't resist some warm mini donuts myself.
Local vendors and artisans were selling goods ranging from novelty socks to pottery and handmade bath & body products. A perfect opportunity to support other small businesses.
For anyone longing for a dose of nostalgia, a sense of community or simply some much needed joy, Martini Town definitely delivered! It’s a reminder of what makes this time of year so special; lights, laughter, love and the magic of shared moments.
Oh and telling a certain jolly gentleman with a beard what you want for Christmas...
Happy Holidays!
Love,
Kerosene
