Waterfront Shift Dress - Fables - only XL left! Last one!

$99.00 $210.00

Return to a world of your imagination with this antique storybook print.  Featuring fairy tales and fables scattered upon a rich leather-bound background, this look is once upon a dream!

The Waterfront dress fits with more ease in the waistline. It has a looser fit around the waist than our other styles of dresses. While it has princess seams for shape, it is more reminiscent of a shift style dress. It also has a higher, softened V neckline; a longer, mid calf length, and more generous inseam pockets.

*Fit notes: This style is fitting large on some, many are sizing down one size from their usual size.

Sizes M-0X are approximately 45.5" long from top of shoulder to the back hem.

Sizes 1X-3X are approximately 46" long from top of shoulder to the back hem.

Had to Have

I had to have this dress since the print includes the cover of a book from the Wizard of Oz series, a childhood favorite. The fabric is a heavier weight cotton and should be good for year-round wear. Just add a sweater or jacket for the colder months--and just about any color will work. Because this is on the Diane Kennedy label, it is cut more conservative than most Cherry Velvet dresses. In fact, the cut could be somewhat dowdy, if not for the great print. However, this also makes this dress wearable most situations which is not always the case with Cherry Velvet bustlines. In terms of fit variation, the cut of the armhole relative to the bodice is a bit higher/closer to the armpit than Cherry Velvet dresses. It verges on uncomfortable for me in the plus size, but is probably fine for most people. This small armhole goes along with a more conservative cut, but I tend to like more room as I tend to be fairly active at work (another librarian here).

Fun With Books

It’s a great, fun dress for someone who works in a library, like I do. It’s a great dress for people who work anywhere else too.
